Navigating to the Settings Screen (Desktop)

What it is: The central configuration area in Draftworx Desktop where firm details, user information, client file locations, and available templates are set up and maintained.

What it's for

The Settings screen is the first place to configure when setting up Draftworx for a new practice, and the go-to location whenever firm details change, storage paths need updating, or new country/framework templates need to be activated. Settings configured here flow through to every client file and AFS produced by the firm.

How to do it

Open the Settings screen

  1. Select the Draftworx Icon (top of the screen).
  2. Select Settings — the Settings screen opens.

Initial practice setup (key sections)

SectionWhat to configure
LanguageSelect the application language
UserEnter your initials and email address
FirmEnter practice name and details — these auto-populate on all AFS
Financial StatementsSet the default font, thousands grouping (comma or space), and default export folder

Select Save after completing each section.

Configure client file storage locations (Profiles tab)

  • Local Clients — browse to the folder where local client files are stored and click Save.
  • Server Clients — map to the shared server folder used by the firm.
  • Archived Clients — map to the folder where archived files are kept.

Activate templates

  1. In Settings, select Templates.
  2. Tick the templates required (by country or framework).
  3. Select Apply and Close and allow a few minutes for the update to complete.
  4. The newly activated templates will be available in the Framework drop-down when creating a new client file.
